You could extend this further by getting your child to count on and backwards starting on different numbers.
Can you support your child to make up simple maths stories in real life scenarios using first, then and now?
For example, first there was two children on the bus, then two more got on, now there are four people on the bus.
You could play this game using any small world toys e.g using dinosaurs first there was 3 dinosaurs, then 4 more arrived, now there is 7. Can you encourage your child to work out the addition and then have a go at making up their own mathematical story?
